Consultation and masterplanning input into Olympic and Legacy masterplans for the Lower Lea Valley and London 2012 Olympic Bid.

Fluid had responsibility for all aspects of partner, stakeholder, and community consultation across the 5 boroughs which helped to guide and then fine tune the masterplan.

The use of a mix of Fluid’s specially crafted tools, including vox pop, route mapping, daily diaries, ‘what if’ scenarios and focused charrettes helped build a detailed appreciation of the site, its people, socio-economic and spatial patterns and key issues, and to define spatial strategies for their improvement and resolution.

The result was a coordinated strategy allied to local issues, initiatives and regeneration projects, leading to the production of a highly tuned framework plan and outline planning application.

The Statement of Participation – a 220 page document – was entertaining, transparent and accessible, providing a robust account of the process and outcomes including clear diagrams mapping the impact of consultation on the final masterplan.

The process helped to win the 2012 ‘bid’ and, later, to determine S106 contributions.
