A masterplan, urban design framework and housing design for the Advance Crosby pathfinder in Scunthorpe, including a delivery plan, development brief and outline planning process supporting the Local Authority, Lincolnshire County Council in the appointment of a development partner.
A masterplan centred on the re-establishment of Memorial Gardens as a much cherished and well-used local park by providing a perimeter of housing overlooking the Park and creating a strong relationship between the adjacent school and the Park, including a new public space and the creation of well defined pedestrian links to the High Street to the south.
The overall urban design and layout reflects the strong existing street pattern and dense terraces of housing that provide a distinct character to the area.
Fluid worked closely with local people to establish an architectural design language that was both contemporary and contextual.
A number of house types were developed in direct response to site conditions and incorporated features such as roof lights, sun terraces, large windows and varied roof lines to address issues of orientation, sunlight, views and varied townscape.
