Brixton Central – Masterplan Development Brief Co-production Update
11 April 2014
The initial stage of co-production on the Brixton Central Masterplan Development Brief has commenced, with Fluid coordinating the public engagement and community consultation.
This document will to help guide growth and change in this important part of the town centre.
As part of the first stage of co-production and consultation, a local Reference Group for the project continuing to be formed including participation from key local stakeholders and individual members of the local community.
The Reference Group will act as a sounding board for the development of the Brixton Central Masterplan Development Brief, drawing together local representatives to meet regularly with the design team and landowners to discuss and inform the scheme as it evolves.
Following preliminary stakeholder mapping, individual and group meetings were held with key local stakeholders, gathering views on assets, concerns and priorities for the town centre and Brixton.
Two Reference Group meetings have followed, with workshops exploring themes around potential land use, viability considerations and community benefits, and potential locations for different town centre activities across the Brixton Central area.
These events have formed a foundation for the co-production process on the Brixton Central Masterplan Development Brief and have involved many passionate and exciting discussions regarding the town centre and Brixton.
Analysis and feedback on the initial findings from these is now underway and will be available in due course. This will include findings from key stakeholder meetings, the Reference Group workshops and the key questions raised and responses made.
Future meetings and workshops are expected to commence again in June, as we hope to progress our co-production towards forming a Masterplan Development Brief for Brixton Central with the local community.
