It’s World Town Planning Day!
Since 1949 World Town Planning Day has been a special day to recognise and promote the role of planning globally and to celebrate how we shape the places where we live, work and play.
To celebrate, Fluid and Soundings have taken the time to consider the importance of planning and shaping places with communities with the statement, “We shape places with the community because…”.
It was our pleasure to have Giorgio Wetzl and Tom Davies from Litchfields deliver a presentation on the recent planning policy updates in the UK for the Fluid/Soundings office on Friday 26th October 2018.

Very proud of our associate Adam Summerfield who took a sabbatical from Fluid to be part of the very selective first Public Practice cohort. Public Practice is placing a new generation of planners within local governments to shape places for the public good.
Shortlisted Competition – Second Place. Our ambitious design aimed to turn the former Youth Theatre and Corn Store into a market place and centre for Kentish produce whilst offering flexible worksapces for tech start-ups and a new public space and visible landmark for Ashford’s Commercial Quarter.

One of Fluid’s key themes for the Culture Mile public realm strategy is the idea of ‘bringing the inside outside’ – transforming the streets with artistic interventions and unique events.
From time to time Fluid notices what its little sister, Soundings, has been up to. This time we noticed that the Leake Street Arches project (also known as the Banksy Tunnel), where a number of extraordinary vaults below Waterloo station have now been brought back into re-use, had a celebratory party to mark practical completion.
